In her message “Imagine,” Pastor Karen Farkas challenges us to become the hands and feet of Jesus by supporting vulnerable children and foster families through Keystone Family Alliance, based on Ephesians 3:20—”Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than we can ask or imagine.” Drawing from the story of Tabitha in Acts 9, the only woman called a disciple in the Bible who was raised from the dead because of her good works for the poor, Pastor Karen emphasizes that our lives give God glory when we do good, kind things for others, not through words alone but through tangible acts of love. She shares the parable of the sheep and goats from Matthew 25, highlighting that both groups were surprised—the sheep didn’t realize they were loving Jesus by serving others, and the goats didn’t realize they were rejecting Him by failing to act.
Pastor Karen presents practical ways we can serve, including joining care communities to provide meals, childcare, and encouragement to foster families who are drowning under the weight of caring for vulnerable children, reminding us that foster families don’t need more stuff—they need our help and presence. Let us imagine what could happen if we move out of our comfort zones to be little Jesuses, using our spiritual gifts to serve one another, sending cards to those who are struggling, providing meals for families with multiple foster children, and praying for caseworkers, because when we do these things for the least of these, we are doing them unto Jesus and bringing glory to our Father in heaven.
