On this Pentecost Sunday, Pastor Tim Farkas reminds us that the Holy Spirit is a wonderful gift given to empower the church to fulfill our divine purpose. Much like an athlete relies on a trainer to sharpen their skills, we need to view the Holy Spirit as our personal “coach” who provides us with the supernatural wisdom, words, and versatility required to be effective witnesses for Jesus. While we traditionally celebrate the evidence of speaking in tongues, this baptism is truly about unlocking a divine capacity within us that shifts our efforts from simple addition to explosive multiplication. We must be careful not to rely solely on our natural talents or let a fear of stepping out trap us in comfortable “Holy Spirit huddles” that keep us sitting on the bench. Let us choose to be coachable, break out of our comfort zones, and actively invite Coach Holy Spirit to empower our lives today!
