Reenlisting

There is no retirement in God's kingdom, our older generation is called to teach and influence the younger as we build the generational family church together.

About the Message

Pastor Tim Farkas delivers his sermon “Reenlisting” by reminding us that just as Moses was called by God at 40, fled for 40 years, and was reenlisted at 80 to fulfill his divine purpose, we too are called to serve in God’s kingdom regardless of our age or past hesitations. He explains how Moses made five excuses when God called him from the burning bush – “Who am I?”, “Which God sent me?”, “They won’t believe me”, “I’m not a good speaker”, and “Please send someone else” – yet God used him powerfully to deliver Israel for 40 years until he was 120. Pastor Tim emphasizes that there is no retirement in God’s kingdom and that our church desperately needs workers in various ministries including nursery, preschool, Tuesday night children’s programs, and youth ministry, with the more people who step up making the workload lighter for everyone through rotation. He stresses that discipleship begins in the church through active service, and drawing from 2 Timothy 2:2, calls on our older generation to teach and influence the younger as we build the generational family church together. The harvest is ready with people at our back door who need us to plant and water seeds in their lives, so rather than praying about it and finding more excuses, we must step forward today and answer God’s call for reenlistment in His service.
