The Financial Rock

Let us maintain a posture of obedience and gratitude by tithing with joy, living within our means, being vigilant against financial temptation.

About the Message

In his message “The Financial Rock” Pastor Tim examines our relationship with finances through Luke 12 and 1 Timothy 6, warning us that covetousness and greed can shipwreck our faith just as they did in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve desired the one thing they couldn’t have. Drawing from Paul’s instruction to Timothy to “watch your life and doctrine closely,” Pastor Tim reveals that godliness with contentment is great gain, emphasizing that we should be content with our fundamental needs of food, clothing, and shelter, yet temptation arises when our desires go beyond these basics as the love of money becomes the root of all kinds of evil.

Pastor Tim challenges us to examine whether we’re living within our means or enslaving ourselves to debt through credit cards and loans, reminding us that the borrower is slave to the lender and we don’t truly own anything until it’s paid off. Let us maintain a posture of obedience and gratitude by tithing with joy, living within our means, being vigilant against financial temptation, establishing budget systems, and building our financial foundation on the rock of God’s Word rather than being shipwrecked on the rocks of financial ruin through covetousness, greed, and keeping up with the Joneses.
